The Dallas First Church Benevolence and Community Service Team strives to be a beacon of light to our community through demonstrating God's love in a tangible way and serving those in need. We believe that at the center of Christian ethics lies the challenge and opportunity to welcome the stranger, feed the hungry, and take care of the less fortunate.
We are currently a co-sponsor with Refugee Services of Texas, Inc. to a refugee family from Bhutan. The goal is to enable them to become self-sufficient so they are able to have a better life. We are forging a friendship with them and helping them with basic needs such as groceries, furniture, assisting with translation, filling out forms, and applications, and other items.
We also partner with Family Gateway, Inc. and the Annette Strauss Family Gateway Center by the Adopt-a-Room program to create a lasting impression for homeless families in transition. They stay in a room at the shelter for approximately three months before they move to an apartment. We makeover a room every time a new family moves in. Our greatest needs with the makeover are brand new rugs, picture frames, mirrors, and clothes. Donations are accepted at the church.
