Benevolence & Community Service

The Dallas First Church Benevolence and Community Service Team strives to be a beacon of light to our community through demonstrating God's love in a tangible way and serving those in need. We believe that at the center of Christian ethics lies the challenge and opportunity to welcome the stranger, feed the hungry, and take care of the less fortunate.

Benevolence Ministry

We are currently a co-sponsor with Refugee Services of Texas, Inc. to a refugee family from Bhutan. The goal is to enable them to become self-sufficient so they are able to have a better life. We are forging a friendship with them and helping them with basic needs such as groceries, furniture, assisting with translation, filling out forms, and applications, and other items.

We also partner with Family Gateway, Inc. and the Annette Strauss Family Gateway Center by the Adopt-a-Room program to create a lasting impression for homeless families in transition. They stay in a room at the shelter for approximately three months before they move to an apartment. We makeover a room every time a new family moves in. Our greatest needs with the makeover are brand new rugs, picture frames, mirrors, and clothes. Donations are accepted at the church.

Homeless Ministry

Each week committed members of the Dallas First Church Homeless Ministry head to the heart of Dallas to serve those who are left homeless on the streets. We give out items such as sack lunches, clothing, bottled water, Bibles, and Steps to Christ booklets. We strive to minister to our brothers and sisters in a practical way and -- most importantly -- to share Jesus' love! We follow Christ's example set for us in Matthew 25:34-40.

We are in need of volunteers to help prepare food each week for our inner-city outreach efforts. We are only asking people to donate about an hour of their Saturdays after church to help with some simple bag lunch preparation and assembly. We are also looking for volunteers who would like to join us in city outreach as well!

If you are interested in serving in either capacity, please contact James Ross @ 214-458-5252 /
