About the Music...
So what type of music does the Dallas First Church Orchestra play? We play a variety of music, mostly focusing on sacred music used for our worship services and other special programs. Our song styles range from modern contemporary praise to classic old hymns of faith and some classical works.
Song Choice...
How do we choose our songs? To put it simply, through much thought and prayer. For more specifics, please visit our "Guiding Principles" page. Summarily, our Director chooses songs based on his "Know Your Audience" principle in trying to make music the most effective tool in praise by having it connect to the audience - our congregation. Our songs and arrangements are meant to provide a little something for all worshipers in our congregation, while holding to our goal of providing inspirational praise in a worshipful and sacred setting.
Music Difficulty...
Are the arrangements difficult to play? No and Yes! Most of our arrangements are written so that moderate and even some beginner-level players can join in. There are some parts that are a bit more challenging to play, but these are usually handled by some of our more experienced and seasoned players. We are not looking for perfection but do want to challenge our musicians to practice and play their best when possible.
